§ 19-31. Bradenhead.

  • Each well drilled within the city limits shall be equipped with a bradenhead with a test pressure of not less than six thousand (6,000) pounds per square inch. Bradenheads shall not be welded. The bradenhead installed on the surface casing shall be set above ground level, or may, at the election of the operator of such well, be set beneath the surface in a reinforced concrete box or cellar sitting entirely below or partially below the surface of the ground, in which event the same shall be covered with a sheet iron cover not less than one-fourth (¼) inch thick, and shall be equipped with fittings having a test pressure rating of not less than six thousand (6,000) pounds per square inch. The bradenhead pressure shall be checked at least once each calendar month and if excess pressure is found to exist, proper remedial measures shall be immediately taken to eliminate the source and the existence of the excess pressure.
